The garden comes alive with the installation of this custom wishing pond, thoughtfully selected for a stunning decorative tile fountain. This elegant wishing pond fountain is adorned with a beautifully designed small mural on the longer side of its wall, showcasing intricate designs and vibrant colors that will draw the eye. The mural harmoniously integrates with the spillways, where water cascades gracefully, creating a soothing sound as it flows into the tranquil basin below. Together, the tiles and mural serve as a striking focal point and infuse the garden with a sense of artistry and serenity, inviting visitors to pause and enjoy the beauty of nature.
Set among the garden’s plants and trees, this fountain is a testament to timeless design. It is made using the traditional colors from the old Malibu tiles, which were based on Spanish and North African tile styles, such as Moroccan tiles. These floral and geometric ornate designs have a rich cultural heritage that transcends time, making this fountain a unique and cherished addition to any garden.
The glaze colors of this fountain are a testament to versatility and creativity. The greens and blues, all a precise hue, blend and enhance water very well. These colors have been used for years, starting in the 20s and 30s with the bloom of art nouveau styles and these more ornate Spanish styles. The coloring is earthen in many ways and blends well with brown, natural, or rust hues, inspiring creative combinations and making this fountain a versatile choice for various settings.
This particular design is very Moorish (North African) accented with the rust/browns. The Moroccan hand-painted tiles, characterized by their intricate geometric patterns and vibrant colors, add a unique and exotic touch to the fountain.
The sides of the fountain are made of hand-glazed field tiles, which will give the tiles an undulating feeling and show off the organic nature of hand-glazing traditions. The floor of the fountain is tiled with an ornate Moroccan tile style that is subtly colored in blues and greens.
Pencil-liner edgings surround the top of the fountain, adding a refined and elegant touch to the design.
Additionally, 3×6 deco tiles are used as finishing on some other edges, enhancing the overall aesthetic with their unique patterns and colors.
I apologize for the picture’s quality. We worked on this fountain in the 1990s and didn’t foresee the advent of the Internet!
